Niet Pissen Geen Fietsen Good Monday

Good Monday

Good Monday! Here’s an image of our first encounter with some freehand grafitti in the morning. Niet Pissen Geen Fietsen means Don’t Piss No Bycicles in Dutch. This is written on a marble slab at the entrance of a Metro station in Amsterdam. We think it’s kinda funny and a good piece of artwork as well.

Niet Pissen Geen Fietsen Good Monday

This text is probably written by the (angry) shopowner 3 seconds away from this grafitti-spot. As you can maybe see on the image; the place is a misbuilt. A dark corner of the street with no purpose whatsoever but to piss and stall your bike. We don’t understand how these kinds of places still exsist in the city of Amsterdam, they need to be torn-down or at least be lit. Fun Fact is that the metro stations in Amsterdam all got revamped earlier this year. The stainless steel stair-railings are replaced with ones in hard wood, for example. That’s a useless decision, for sure if you still have to pass these nasty dark corners around metro stations.

Theresa Roemer’s Weird YouTube Channel (of the Week)

Theresa Roemer

Who is Theresa Roemer? She is a rich woman ” I just came back from the Cayman Islands”, from Texas in the USA. She has a YouTube channel for which she follows all the Youtuber rules neatly.

YouTube Intro

All her uploads have one template. First you get a little intro in which she always addresses us viewers as “Hey Peeps”. Next you see her pre-filmed intro; she promisses us Luxury, Lifestyle, and an other thing which we, at Mimi Berlin, can’t remember.

Usual Topics

Her movies are about her life, for example like the video above; Beauty taken too far? or we get an in-house tour (glam-room and closet). And she also just comes up with things to do, such as shopping at… “You guys, I’ve never been to the one dollar store”.

Collaborations and Subscribing

The third thing Theresa Roemer films (actually not herself, but her younger friend, who follows her around) are collaborations with other, equally famous Youtubers. At the end of each movie she always urges us to subsribe and so on, like any youtubers would, so no surprises there either.

Long Story Short

The video’s on Roemer”s channel are about nothing (special). Theresa Roemer doesn’t show her ‘real’ self and being a ‘youtuber’ obviously isn’t really her passion. It is something that she does, like many others who aren’t the earliest of adaptors. Whilst watching her plugging several products and buying lot’s of random stuff, the Fake-ness becomes more Fascinating to us. Without any judgement we ask ourselves: is this what our (pop)culture came to be? Or is it the fact that the lack of creativity is so out in the open; 3 times a week for about 4 years already?!
Well, the questions that pop up in our minds while watching this channel are the reason why we made this is the Weird YouTube Channel of the week. Maybe you have some answers for us? You are more than welcome to start a conversation! xoxo Mimi

Hard Plastic Renwal Dolls

Renwal Dolls

Renwal dolls, they look so creepy, don’t they? But at the same time they are SO pretty as well! The photography, by ForgetMeNotVintage; the shop on etsy which sells these vintage dolls, is truly outstanding. The pink doll is neatly placed on a chair, and we can see that she sits in a wallpapered room, the yellow child is also portrayed in a masterly way. We, at Mimi Berlin, don’t want the dolls, we want these photo’s! #auchhaben

Early plastics

Dolls from Renwal toys. above, in pink is the mother, the sister is yellow. Below, in white, are the Renwal Veterinarian Doctor and Nurse Doll, they all belong in a dollhouse and are really small in size. The figures are produced by the American Renwal company from 1945 untill the late 1950s. (Click HERE for an extra read on older and early plastics dollhouses)
