Charlotte Gainsbourg X CURRENT ELLIOTT
Current/Elliott creative director Serge Azria and Charlotte Gainsbourg created a special capsule collection ; Effortless Chic, Contemporary Classics with a Parisian Twist is a good way to describe this collection. The first collection has about 40 pieces that range from denim pants to corduroy outerwear to tailored wool suits, Our favorite is the petite pants in black leather. The collection was launched July 30, and is currently available at Collete but soon also available at STYLEBOP.com (for us who don’t live in Paris.) In addition to designing this capsule collection for the denim brand Current/Elliott, the french socialite will also be the face of the brand, beginning with the spring 2015 collection. Who is Charlotte Gainsbourg you ask of us. Well, Charlotte Lucy Gainsbourg was born in 1971 as the daughter Jane Birkin (from THE bag) and Serge Gainsbourg. Not only is she famous for that; she also released a song called Lemon Incest with her father in 1984.This song has caused a scandal as it was accused of glamorising pedophilia and incest. Charlotte, who then was twelve, sings ambiguous lyrics seeming to refer to a physical love between an adult and his child. In addition, the relationship between the two singers is the same as the protagonists of the song, which led to suspicions on the autobiographical nature of the work. Serge Gainsbourg denied these allegations in the media. In an interview in 2010 Charlotte defended her decision to record the track, though acknowledging it was a “provocation”. Later in her life, as an adult more than twenty years later, she released three albums to commercial and critical success. Charlotte Gainsbourg has also appeared in many films, including several directed by Lars von Trier, and has received both a César Award and the Cannes Film Festival Best Actress Award.
