Dutch Design Week 2015: Aart van Asseldonk

An other tip for when you are in Eindhoven during the Dutch Design Week 2015;
Visit the Saint Augustine Church; designer Aart van Asseldonk transformed this church into his own exhibition space ànd a place to wine and dine by means of a “still life installation”; The Allegory of the South.

Everything you see is designed by van Asseldonk, furniture, lighting, candle holders, shoes, carpets, ovens……well everything like we already said. The place is also decorated with amazing floral-designs by Oogenlust. At night the scenery will come alive as the nave of Saint Augustine Church transforms into a dining room, where Dick Middelweerd from restaurant De Treeswijkhoeve (awarded two Michelin stars) serves an exclusive dinner prepared especially for this event. Exquisite beer by Beerze Beer from Vessem (a village near Eindhoven) will be served (also wine don’t worry) Live music will complete this feast. This, all Dutch, dinner starts at 19:00. Price is €150, per person, that’s all-included. Click to make a reservation for dinner

The Allegory of the South takes place during Dutch Design Week from 16 through 25 October. Saint Augustine Church is open daily from 11:00 AM to showcase the still life. Outdoor activities will commence at the same time.

We already mentioned this event earlier; read all about the event and the church here
