Korean artist Cody Choi created an installation named Color Haze. We, at Mmi Berlin, saw it at the Venice Biennale in 2017, and it brightened our day, nee: our week (and maybe this entire month)

Intuiition at Palazzo Fortuny

During the Venice Biennalle  there is more to see than the art exhibited at the Arsenale exhibition spaces and Giardini della Biennale. For instance, at Palazzo Fortuny the exhibition Intuiition can be seen. It’s a collection of historic, modern and contemporary works, related to the concept of intuition, dreams, telepathy, paranormal fantasy, meditation, creative power, hypnosis and inspiration. Intuition is the last in a series of 4 exhibitions at the Palazzo Fortuny cocurated by Axel Vervoordt and Fortuny museum director Daniela Ferretti.

Similar to the The boat is leaking. The captain lied. exhibition at Fondazione Prada held in another Palazzo in Venice downtown, the Intuiition exhibition also took us on a tour throughout the 3 stories high building. Each floor is transformed into something one would call an installation: each floor set in a different atmosphere, nice!

The Boat is Leaking The Captain Lied The Exhibition

Is a long title for the transmedia exhibition project by Alexander Kluge, Thomas Demand, Anna Viebrock and curator Udo Kittelmann. The Boat is Leaking. The Captain Lied. is situated in Ca’ Corner della Regina, the 18th century Palazzo which houses Fondazione Prada in Venice. Having such a wonderful backdrop must have been very inspiring for the artists; we feel this installation (built throughout the 3 floors of the palazzo) was custom made. It is, as always, hard for us to write about art because we feel you have to experience it for yourself. But we will try: because we think this exhibition was lovely, and that fact needs to be shared!

We are no art critics, just art lovers and furthermore we are basic art-consumers: We love to just watch and let our minds go free (intuition) and enjoy. This is one of the reasons we liked this exhibition (and then some, at the Venice Biennale) The Boat is Leaking. The Captain Lied is divided into several rooms, or spaces and settings. Walking through the installations we felt like explorers: being curious about what’s next. The artists also made sure that you were part of the backstage situation. Regular Fragile by Liu Jiahua, a project for the 50th Biennale di Venezia, China Pavillion,  2003. “Ordinary” objects all made from porcelain. About: Liu Jianhua is one of China’s best known sculptural and installation artists whose primary materials are porcelain and mixed media. He was raised up in Jiangxi Province where he spent 14 years in learning the ceramic and porcelain craft at Ji ngdezhen’s factory. He graduated in Fine Art of Sculpture at the Jingdezhen Ceramics Institute in 1989, and within a contemporarycontext, he started his own experimental practices. Liu’s porcelain and mixed media works reflect the economic and social changes in China as well as the problems that follow suit. His Regular Fragile series, first shown at the Chinese Pavilion, Venice Biennale in 2003, is composed of porcelain replicas of daily that privilege appearance and symbolism over function. In 2008, he shifted his previous close and direct attention on the problems emerged in China from globalization and sharp social changes to “no meaning, no content”, which declared the fairly new exploration of his creation with works Untitled in 2008 and therefore formed a basic direction leading the perception of contemporary art creation.
