Famous Roses

Marella Agnelli The style icon has two roses named in her honor, and both flourish in the gardens of her country house in Villar Perosa, Italy. ‘Donna Marella Agnelli’ (shown) is a fragrant pink version of the famous white ‘Iceberg’ hybrid tea rose; it was developed by the Italian breeder Vittorio Barni and released in 1988. The other, a pink-red hybrid tea rose called ‘Marella,’ was launched in 1961 by Meilland International. Photo courtesy of Rose Barni; from the Condé Nast Archive
