Bartje The Dutch Farmer Boy

Bartje The Dutch Farmer Boy

A Dutch Icon in a still-life in stone set by Mimi Berlin.Bartje The Dutch Farmer Boy

The boy in the middle is Bartje Bartels. He is a little farmer boy from Drenthe, a province of The Netherlands. He is brought up in a very poor family. Writer Anne de Vries came up with this caracter in 1935 and named his book after him. He wrote two booksabout Bartje. The quote Ik bid niet veur brune bonen” (I don’t pray for brown beans) became well known in The Netherlands after Bartje became a tv series in 1972. The egg on the right is made out of concrete by Bloomingville. The Powercharger on the left is from Kreafunk. Just so you know! Have a nice day! xoxo

The Residence of Dolores and Bob Hope in Palm Springs

The Residence of Dolores and Bob Hope in Palm Springs

Designed by Modernist architect John Lautner in the late seventies.
It seems like this “house” is built for entertaining, The Hope couple could invite up to 500 people, and they did. Last week, May 6th 2015, Louis Vuitton also invited a couple of hundred buyers and journalists to this venue for the Louis Vuitton Resort 2016 Fashion Show. We, at Mimi Berlin wished we were there. We never had such urgent wishes to attend fashion shows before, but lately the venues are SO extravagant and SO out of this world….! Last season we were fascinated with the Chanel Resort show in Dubai. And today we read the following on style.com;

“The Resort season has turned into a mini architecture tour. Karl Lagerfeld set up Chanel operations at Zaha Hadid’s Dongdaemun Design Plaza in Seoul on Monday. Raf Simons will show Dior at Pierre Cardin’s south of France home next week. And today Louis Vuitton had over 800 rooms booked in Palm Springs, California, for the celebrities, international journalists, and clients that assembled here to witness Nicolas Ghesquière’s latest LV collection at the Bob Hope estate.”Nicole Phelps on style.com.

Yes, yes and yes we would like to attend all shows! The one more decadent and glamorous than the other show. Imagine having a drink on custom made perspex seats in the middle of the desert of California in an over the top concrete UFO like building! Pfff……..And to top that off; watching A-List models pass you by, wearing clothes designed by Nicolas Ghesquière….. Unreal! But it seems to be normal in the fashion industry nowadays. We’ll keep on following the normal fashion life on instagram’s happy few. And you can follow our daily life on instagram as well, if you like; @mm_brln
