This is the first purse designed by us at Mimi Berlin, it’s handmade in a series of 3 pieces only. Yes boys and girls, this is a very limited edition indeed! If you really like what you see you need to be quick with your order. But before you make any decisions: let us properly introduce the love purse. Our lovely, sleek and simple, made in hard-plastic bag with a glittery inlay; LOVE in silver and gold.
LOVE You can’t get enough of that!
Besides the glitter and shine the Number One purse has a sturdy chain in gold metal with white plastic details.*LOVE * You can’t get enough of that! This purse has a large mirror inside and it will surely fit a large mobile phone, cash, lipstick, cigarettes and Smints; Every essential thing you need to bring for a night out at the Discotheque, in our opinion that is.
Louis Vuitton shows its latest ‘Objets Nomades’ collection in six spaces at the Palazzo Serbelloni in Milan during Milan Design Week 2019. “Since the launch in 2012, the Louis Vuitton Objets Nomades collection has grown into a collection forty-five limited-edition travel-inspired objects imagined by some of the world’s most renowned designers.”
Maybe it’s us, at Mimi Berlin, but this presentation felt like we were visiting one big and very luxurious discotheque in the 1980s. The tone was set at the entrance; a winding stairwell, completely lit in blue with loud pumping music in our eardrums. Heavenly!
The designs for ‘Objets Nomades’ all have in common that they are inspired by travel furniture. The newest design, the Anemona table by Atelier Biagetti, made sure we were travelling in our minds into the deep sea.
The first room we entered is filled with designs by the Campana brothers. A Jungle themed-room; The jungle seen in a tropical, colorful and cartoonesk way. Sofa’s and hanging chairs reminiscent of fruit, sided by multicolored palm-leaves in a sparsely lit space. That sounds laim but this furniture is SO high-end, well made and pretty that it’s absolutely not!
New designs by Marcel Wanders are the Diamond sofa and chair and the Venezia lamp
The largest room at the Palazzo Serbelloni has the calmest vibe. The ceiling is covered in hunderds of Bell Lamps made from paper. The original Bell lamp is made in leather and (Murano) glass and is designed by Barber & Osgerby for the 2012 Objet Nomades collection, the first edition.
The last room, a white one with mirrors, is filled with the Dolls Chairs, designed by Raw Edges, all upholstered differently. Again, accompanied by loud and danceable music. See more of this room in the video below.
Honestly, we, at Mimi Berlin, had a blast with all this glittery shine and up-scale glamour!
Window shopping in Milan is one of Mimi’s greatest pleasures. This week is all about furniture and industrial design ’cause it’s Milan Design Week #mdw19, but we do need our fashionfix so we took a stroll along the shop windows of the high-end fashion brands in the area around the Via Montenapoleone. Below some pictures we made for y’all, who don’t have the time to go shopping for fashion design.
From Industrial to Discotheque to Safari
From the top of our heads (and thus in a nutshell) we could not help but spot the following ‘trends’. ‘Discotheque’ with neon colors, hologram, shine and glitter in silver, gold and bright colors. ‘Industrial’ with neon lights, concrete, silver detailing and transparency or plastic. On the ‘Safari’ side of the ‘shop-window-spectrum’ in Milan: animals, in particular the giraffe, monkeys and birds. Furthermore we’ve seen some tie-dye, at Prada and Stella McCartney only, and of course the color pink in all kinds of romantic shades.
Shop windows with a very romantic and girlie vibe, in pink: from pastel to shocking. Pink. The larger-than-life easter egg is made by Cova
Fiorucci is back. The fashion brand, named after it’s founder Elio Fiorucci, is seriously open for business again. After 2 decades of offering cheaply produced licensed garments, they now (Feb 2019) have a collaboration capsule-collection with Adidas in a store near you.
Working with Adidas gets a brand some kind of standing, they don’t collaborate with just any brand or designer. Well known designers such as Raf Simons, Stella McCartney, and Jeremy Scott (who now is the art-director at Moschino) are collaborating with Adidas, so Fiorucci is in good company. #AdidasOriginalsByFiorucci offers limited editions of streetwear, trainers and accessories carrying the signature fun-discotheque-vibe of the brand.
Fiorucci was relaunched In 2017 when the ‘eighties-revival’ was at its peak. A smart move also was publishing the Fiorucci (history) book alongside. (Rizzoli ISBN100847860159) Introduction to the brand was also done by the first campaign for that summer-season, shot by Josh Wilks with Georgia May Jagger (daughter of Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall) in the the main role. The new team re-created the old Fiorucci vibe and images. (more info to be found on fiorucci.com)
