Woth Wonderful Things Magazine 6

We would like to pay attention to Woth Wonderful Things Magazine. Specifically the newest issue, because it’s an anniversary issue! Woth Magazine is one year old! Hurray! Yours truly went to Barcelona to visit the festive launch of issue number 6, held at the BD Barcelona Showroom.Woth Wonderful Things Magazine 6(The colorful magazine displayed on the grey and black “Monkey Tables” designed by Jaime Hayon for BD Barcelona Design)

Woth number six is also the first issue in which Mimi Berlin worked on Whot’s On: the calendar of things to do of the magazine.

Completely out of character we, at Mimi Berlin, did not make any party snaps. But WOTH did; see them HERE

Schueller de Waal Collection Spring-Summer 2018 Compulsory Shenanigans

Schueller de Waal Collection Spring-Summer 2018 Compulsory Shenanigans

Schueller de Waal is a Dutch independent fashion label which showed their 9th collection ‘Compulsory Shenanigans’ for Spring-Summer 2018, yesterday evening (Sept 6th) in Tower 4 of the World Fashion Center in Amsterdam. The designers, Rens de Waal and Philipp Schueller, went Big, Large and More! They set themselves the task to measure up to show like the huge and established fashion houses do; within, and embracing the limitations they have as a small and independent fashion label.”Serious fashion…not so serious” as Schueller de Waal stated. Fun! We like that at Mimi Berlin.

The average fashion show, held by established designers like Chanel for instance, has a few ingredients to dazzle the audience with. Schueller de Waal incorporated some of these ingredients in a playful manner by presenting lot’s of looks (worn by many models) including Continue reading

RVDK showing at Couture Week Paris

RVDK showing at Couture Week Paris

The letters RVDK stand for Ronald van der Kemp, a Dutch fashion designer who started his own first demi-couture label, for Fall 2015: RVDK. He and his team have been slowly working towards the opportunity to show, officially, in Paris during Couture Week, June 2017. (showing the collection for Fall/Winter 2018). That’s kind of a big deal; you have to be a member of the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode. Other Dutch fashion designers showing this season are Iris van Herpen, Viktor & Rolf and Belgian designers A.F. Vandervorst. (Obviously we are rooting for the BeNeLux)

Gratuliere to you all at RVDK!

Eye-Seats by Vivolli

Eye-Seats by Vivolli

The other day we stumbled upon a lovely pouffe, a design from the new furniture brand Vivolli (since 2015); It has the in the shape of an eyeball. It can be lifted up at the “eyelid”; you can put your hand under that part. This little gem comes in 3 vibrant color-variations and is made in a velvet like fabric (in two sizes 40cm and 60cm in diameter.) We think we need the larger size, it seems more functional, sitting wise. (is that an understandable word combination? if not: sorry our native language isn’t English. But you knew that already ofcourse….)eye_seat_vivolli(photo taken at the x-bank in Amsterdam)

Vivolli has 4 chairs only for sale. The eyeball is the one design we really like, probably because of it’s surreal vibe. The three other designs are very different from this little seater, and a bit too eighties and unfriendly in design for us. The pouffe is available online at Vivolli webshop, the smaller size in store at the X-Bank in Amsterdam. Continue reading

Dutch Brand pols potten celebrates it’s 30th Anniversary

Dutch Brand pols potten celebrates it’s 30th Anniversary

Mimi Berlin joined the party to celebrate, and take partysnaps for WOTH Wonderful Things Magazine. Founding editor of WOTH magazine, Mary Hessing, got commisioned to make the book ‘Family of Things’; 30 years pols potten, which was launched at the party as well. Taking snaps at this event was our little congratulaions present to her. More reason to celebrate was the introduction of the new Gervasioni Collection to the store with furniture designed by, amongst others, Paola Navone and Patricia Urquiola. So, if you need to decorate your home any time soon we suggest you visit the pols potten shop in Amsterdam to see some Italian design.

Although you can’t see it on the images above the place was packed; see more snaps taken at this event HERE
