ArtEZ Fashion Show 2017

ArtEZ Fashion Show 2017

Yesterday we, Mimi Blogger Team, went to see the annual show of ArtEZ Arnhem’s fashion design department, which was held at Musis Sacrum, one of Arnheim’s cultural centers. Musis Sacrum (just love that name) has restrooms larger than our headoffices, with very high ceilings covered in travertine (but that’s another story…) The first and second year students opened this fashionshow with experimental designs and after Collectie Arnhem 2017, designed by the 3rd year students, we got to see the graduation collections. This year a group of 19 Bachelor students will be graduating; congratulations to all!

As we took a peek backstage after the show, we noticed that the detailing of the designs are pretty high standard; fabrics (and leather) are often embellished and finished by hand, also the of craft knitting, printing and embroidery isn’t lost on these students. We love that!

Just like last year JW Kaldenbach & Mimi Berlin got commissioned to portray the graduate bachelor students of ArtEZ Arnhem (University of Fine Arts situated in Arnhem, The Netherlands) and create an exhibition out of these portraits. The result of that collaboration will be on show at Dudok in June and July 2017.ArtEZ Arnhem Finals 2017 Faces on exhibit at Dudok

The Fashion Show 2015 / Gerrit Rietveld Academie

The Fashion Show 2015 / Gerrit Rietveld Academie

This year the fashion design students of the Gerrit Rietveld Academie got to show at the Citroën Garage in Amsterdam. The first and second year students showed the results of the project “Something Metal”; they researched shape and form with grey, hard, plastic and came up with some interesting silhouettes. The 8 graduate collections really showed the strong point of each student; trendspotting, research, experiment, and even commercial talent passed us by in the form of well balanced collections. Models (cast and training by Victor de Bie), choreography (by Bas Andrea and Nathalie Haelermans) and styling (by Marleen de Jong) were impeccable, this, combined with the diversity of the Gerrit Rietveld Academie class of 2015, made the show inspirational for us at Mimi Berlin, we thought it’s upbeat vibe was fun and entertaining.

Artez Arnhem Masters Fashion Design Graduation 2014

The 4 Fashion Design Masters who graduated this year held their presentation after the fashion design bachelors show.
