Dutch One-Woman Campaign HEY, HEY, HEY: COME ON, VOTE!

In The Netherlands it’s almost time to vote; to be precise on the15th of March 2017. Four days ago Ms Roosje Klap, graphic designer by trade, decided to start a “one-woman campaign” trying to reach as much people as possible to go and vote.

We, at Mimi Berlin, can spend lot’s of our time looking at make-up ads and campaigns, especially the older and American ones. We do find them intriguing: the way these photo’s, texts (Come play in our Yardley!) and gifts lure you into buying a product is almost magic (in our opinion) Below some of Yardley of London advertisements for the “Slicker” collections made in the 1960s and 1970s. The name “Slicker” alone is genius by itself!

Yes, somebody designed the smiley!

“An authentic Harvey Ball smiley face can always be identified by three distinguishing features: Narrow oval eyes, with the right one larger than the left, bright sunny yellow, and a slightly off center mouth, which has been attributed to being similar to a “Mona Lisa Mouth” (quote wikipedia)

Yes, someone designed the Peace Symbol!

ln 1958 Gerald Holtom designed the logo of the British Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND). The logo was not copyrighted and later became known in the wider world as a general-purpose peace symbol.The design was a combination of the letters “N” (two arms outstretched pointing down at 45 degrees) and “D” (one arm upraised above the head) of the flag semaphore alphabet, standing for nuclear disarmament.
