New Light

According to Moooi “Tegelaar’s designs shed a new light on undervalued materials and existing techniques, resulting in the industrial-inspired products” we only have to add that: these designs are elegant, fragile and they can be the (must-have of the decade) ‘focal point’ in your home if you want to, but they don’t have to.

See an editorial in which we, at Mimi Berlin, used the Filigree Floor Lamp, a long time ago……..

Kaleidoscopic Effect through the OP Vase Collection

Kaleidoscopic Effect through the OP Vase Collection

The OP-Vase collection is a series of vases designed by Studio Bilge Nur Saltik in 2015, they are hand-crafted in collaboration with Turkish artisans in Istanbul. The glass pieces come in two colors (blue and green) and in three sizes, each with  a unique pattern of cuts and extremely precise corners.

 Home Decor

“A signature quality of each glass vase is the illusion created by its complex pattern of cuts. A kaleidoscopic effect is created within each thick glass form, so that when viewed from different angles, a single flower placed within it, dissolves into an entire bouquet!” (read more bilgenursaltik.com)

We feel that adding OP to your home-deco collection is an investment worth making, certainly if in you live in a country where flowers are expensive.

Curtains or How an Idea is Formed

Curtains or How an Idea is Formed

For a couple of months now, we’ve been noticing all sorts of images made with curtains on the interweb. Yes curtains, not your average ones but curtains used in a special manner, then photographed, sometimes with people. The first one we noticed was the image by Patty Carrol from her Draped series, which are great! After that one we started noticing more images with the same vibe; didn’t save them all but one. Subsequently the idea on how to embellish Mimi Berlin’s HQ with curtains came up. It was in the same way we later saw on Edwin van Gelder‘s instagram: a picture made at Fondazione Prada. Funny how that works: ideas.
Just That.
Have a nice day! xoxo Mimi
