Buidings as Fashion Show Venues

Buidings as Fashion Show Venues

Menswear shows in Paris: Rick Owens and Kenzo chose a similar kind of venue: Trend Alert! Buildings as a fashion show backdrop (a summer trend; it needs to be outside). This post is obviously not going to be a Mimi Runway report: we can’t see the actual clothes. But, what a spectacle it’s like the circus…..

Yesterday the Kenzo x H&M show was held at Pier 36 in New York (Creative Director: Jean-Paul Goude/Music Director: Sam Spiegel/Choreography: Ryan Heffington) We thought it was a blast! We don’t agree much with the mass produced garments and policy sold by H&M; but we do hope the people in the streets, in 250 cities worldwide, will turn brighter and more pretty with this collection, only if it was for one season…….

From the H&M Press office:

The KENZO x H&M collection will be available in over 250 H&M stores worldwide, as well as online, from November 3.” Continue reading

Menswear Spring 2015: Dazzle Camouflage

Menswear Spring 2015: Dazzle Camouflage

In our report on the women’s wear collections for Fall 2014 we already noticed the Dazzle Camouflage Trend. Again, for Spring 2015, the collections for men were spruced up with these bright, confusing prints. We, at Mimi Berlin, are happy to see that because we are very fond of this kind of exuberant kind of colour blocking, always have. Walter van Beirendonk took it to the next level and created Dazzle faces to accompany the clothes, showing us exactly how this colorful camouflage principle actually can work (see pictures above). Of course Dazzle Camouflage doesn’t always have to go into extremeties like that; The diagonal stripes at Balmain, the blocking at Marni and all the other examples above will do the job as well.
