Gucci Décor Temporary Shop Premiering at Milan Design Week 2019

Gucci Décor

The Italian luxury brand Gucci produces, next to fashion, also furniture and home accessoiries which are all (hand) made in Italy. For the first time ever this “collection of furniture and decorative pieces” are gathered in one shop, or living space: Gucci Décor. This temporary shop, which opened during Milan Design Week, feels more like a home. Not just any home but a very eclectic one (think Iris Apfel); vintage design and antiques are mixed with the newest Gucci products, they match very well because the designs are actually quite traditional and are made by some of the most established craftsmen in Italy. The Gucci Décor line is a mix of history, tradition, manual skills, modern fashionable styling and ditto branding, designed to instantly ‘personalize’ your home. Have a look at the images we made, and see if you would like to visit the shop (to smell the scented candles in porcelain jars for example)

More is More

We, at Mimi Berlin, think Gucci’s creative director Alessandro Michele’s motto must be ‘More is More’ (duh). Similar to his clothing collections, the clashing of prints, embroideries and colors aren’t used sparsely at all, au contraire! Again; “more is more and less is a bore” and let’s put a logo on top of that. It all is very enjoyable to the eye for sure.

Gucci Merchandise Galore

Pillows, scented candles, porcelain, double-sided screens, mugs, wallpaper, blankets, sidetables, trays and what have you not, can be bought at Gucci Décor, Via Santo Spirito in Milan. (opposite the Balenciaga store) Sofa’s, chaise longues and chairs are made to order and can be delivered within 3 months if you live in Europe.

Yes, somebody designed the smiley!

Harvey Ball, Creator of the Smiley Face

“An authentic Harvey Ball smiley face can always be identified by three distinguishing features: Narrow oval eyes, with the right one larger than the left, bright sunny yellow, and a slightly off center mouth, which has been attributed to being similar to a “Mona Lisa Mouth” (quote wikipedia)

ln 1958 Gerald Holtom designed the logo of the British Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND). The logo was not copyrighted and later became known in the wider world as a general-purpose peace symbol. The design was a combination of the letters “N” (two arms outstretched pointing down at 45 degrees) and “D” (one arm upraised above the head) of the flag semaphore alphabet, standing for nuclear disarmament.

Adventure #23: Tosti gets Presents

Tosti gets presents, not because of his birthday or any other special occasion. No, he just gets treats for no reason other than that he is loved. What can we learn from this? People should get treated more often for no reason. Do you remember the last time you gave some one a present for no reason? Exactly! Chop chop, off you go to the local gift shop…….go and make a friend happy!
