Dots and other geometric shapes and optical illusion play a big role in the work of graphic designer Geoff McFetridge. We, at Mimi Berlin, love dots so we chose them. McFetridge works and lives in Los Angeles, amongst his clients are ‘big brands’ for instance Nike and Target, Next to advertising jobs he also worked with film director Spike Jonze and Colette (amongst a big list of others). BFGF an Art Brand Inspired by Comfort, Beauty and Humour

BFGF is based in Los Angeles, it is the brand of artist Lilian Martinez. Ms Martinez makes wonderful, digitally printed plaids, cushions and blankets. (also silk scarves and shirts) which she sells in her web shop. On BFGF’s site it says that she is inspired by comfort, beauty and humour, a simple but nice statement! Our favorite piece is the Worldwide Aura Blanket (that’s the pink one with Lisa Simpson)

Royce Reed and Marilyn Hoggatt

A couple of years ago we found clips of Royce on You Tube. We, at Mimi Berlin, posted a few and here is one more: Quando, Quando, also featuring Marilyn.

Royce Reed and Marilyn Hoggatt; “two of the most unusual ladies ever to grace downtown L.A.”

The makers of these clips are Bill Geerhart and Andrew D’Ambrosio. They filmed the ladies from the 1990s until 2010 at the Hotel Stillwell in downtown Los Angeles and later residences. They planned to make a documentary from this material. Bill Geerhart and Andrew D’Ambrosio’s campagin on indiegogo is closed. But the full-lnght documentary is nowhere to be found…. Maybe you know if they ever finished it or otherwise where to find it? If you do know more please let us know!

Happy Sunday and Goodmorning! Today we are going to watch Pharrel Williams’s Video at  24hoursofhappy.com to see if we can make ourselves feel like a room without a roof……pharrell-williams-happyFilmed in Los Angeles, directed by We Are From LA and produced by Iconoclast. The song Happy is featured on the soundtrack for the film Despicable 2. The video was released Thursday November at the stroke of midnight. So that would be Friday  22th?. Whatever, Enjoy!

How much time did you spent watching and listening to this WONDERFUL project (or as we overheard at the Mimi Berlin Headquarters, the best art we got to experience this year) ?
