Pin-Up Illustrations by Alain Aslan
Aslan (born Alain Gourdon, in Bordeaux, France on May 23, 1930) is a French painter, sculptor and pin-up artist. He is mostly famous in France for his pin ups. He contributed to Lui from the creation of the magazine in 1964 to the early eighties, providing a monthly pin up illustrations. Also, his Folies Bergere publicity posters have long become iconic images. Aslan has been much more than the master of the erotic pin-up however with famous publicity illustrations for Fiat, Peugeot, Renault, the Crazy horse Saloon, The Casino de Paris, the Olympia and the Alcazar, as well as children’s books and record covers. Additionally an award-winning sculptor of important French political and cultural figures, most famously the Fifth Republic Marianne bust as Brigitte Bardot in 1970, followed by the Mireille Mathieu Marianne.
