Romance Down to Earth Style:
Patchworked, bleached, printed or otherwise embellished denim.
Think: Nostalgic Americana, Little house on the prairie and The Waltons
Color; blue
Silhouette; baggy
Junya Watanabe showed nothing but (embellished) denim with a worn down, patched up feel to the outfits. At Louis Vuitton there was a little denim segment (the odd one out at the show, but still…)
Romance Dramatic Style:
Embellishment galore from brocade to tule.
Think: Dance, in a broad way; from ballet to bull fighting
Color: Neutrals and greens
Silhouette; most important, cropped tops
Dolce and Gabanna showed a clear theme: The Toreador. Cropped (toreador) jackets were also present at Walter van Beirendonck and Balmain. Dries van Noten’s collection was inspired by Nureyev, adding embellished accents to the shoulders in the shape of “holsters” and epaulettes in (embellished) brocade (images via style.com)

How wonderfully simple can a print design be? Very simple! At the menswear fashion shows for Spring 2015 we noticed this trend for prints: The Square.
How to do this
Step one; Take a garment, preferably a T-Shirt, but any top will do.
Step two; Make yourself a square.
Step three: Decide if you like text or an image, if you can’t decide use both.
Step four: Place text and/or image in square.

In our report on the women’s wear collections for Fall 2014 we already noticed the Dazzle Camouflage Trend. Again, for Spring 2015, the collections for men were spruced up with these bright, confusing prints. We, at Mimi Berlin, are happy to see that because we are very fond of this kind of exuberant kind of colour blocking, always have. Walter van Beirendonk took it to the next level and created Dazzle faces to accompany the clothes, showing us exactly how this colorful camouflage principle actually can work (see pictures above). Of course Dazzle Camouflage doesn’t always have to go into extremeties like that; The diagonal stripes at Balmain, the blocking at Marni and all the other examples above will do the job as well. Larger at Acne Studios, it can’t get any for men in spring 2015. How wonderful are these silhouettes? We can’t wait to see them in the streets, but we have to, for a year.
And how wonderful are the Acne Studios Shops worldwide? We’ll manage to visit these within a year, maybe. Continue reading
