Mimi Berlin came up with a new project today and named it; The Prefab Aliën Butterfly. This is a video series. We started out by making the trailer. Have a look-see, and let us know what you think?
The Prefab Aliën Butterfly – Part one; Travel
This video is about The Prefab Aliën Butterfly which is a friendly Aliën from Outer Space. On her visits to Planet Earth she roams the sky, similar to a helicopter, in search of fun adventures. And she will find a lot. Stay tuned, why don’t you.
We present: a pinkish doll and a face. We also created a short (mimi) movie in hard pastels: Adult Lifestyle. Make sure to watch and see what you think about that one!!
Thahanks to Mr Twan Janssen who reminded us of World Animal Day by updating his facebook coverphoto. Janssen used an ‘oldie but goodie’; a still from the Mimi Berlin’s Fashion-Fest #8 Movie. The dog with the partyhat is his dog, her name is Lou. Congratulations to Lou and all the animals in the world! Party Hats On!
Mimi Berlin Blogger Team went to see 3 fashionshows, held by art universities in The Netherlands. Edition 2019. We went to Arnhem, Amsterdam and The Hague. We also produced 3 Mimimovies for you. (In poor quality as always.) Have a look see how happy all the students are! We feel that’s one of the most beautiful parts of student-fashion-shows.
Margot Huijkelom is an artist with a background in fashion, she’s based in France; to be exact in Barbizon. She was born, raised and educated in the Netherlands, so you could say that she came back to her roots with this exhibition at The Grand Hotel in Amsterdam.
We, at Mimi Berlin, met Margot the other day to have a look at her most recent works. Ms Huijkelom was so kind to take us on a tour around the ground floor, where the walls are covered with her paintings and illustrations.
Fashion Illustrator
Margot’s career has been a divers one, within the bounderies of fashion. She made illustrations, for Vogue Japan, L’officiel and numerous other glossy magazines. She sat next to the haute-couture runways for Le Monde and she has had her work published in several books, she also worked as the art-director for Gerbe in Paris. (more on that later on this blog, promised!) Next to this commisioned work she found out that she could fulfill more of her creative inspirations by painting. As mentioned above; she is based in Barbizon and that’s where she has an atelier where she creates ‘free work’, mostly on canvas made with natural pigments. These works are also on show at The Grand.
On exhibit at the Grand
Huijkelom’s exhibition will run through to the end of August 2019 so you have plenty of time to take a stroll through the hallways of the hotel and enjoy her work for yourself. @margot_van_huijkelom And here’s a link to The Grand, Amsterdam.
The Mendini Tribute Cinema is an initiative by Marcel Wanders and Milano Design Film Festival, it’s in honour of Alessandro Mendini. Seen at the Moooi venue at the Mediateca Santa Teresa, via della Moscova 28 in Milan. We, at Mimi Berlin, loved the simple font use for this pop-up cinema……….
