Our Day is a good day when it becomes apparent to the world how important ‘fashion’ is. So yesterday we actually had a good one; thanks to the choice of footwear by the first lady of the USA. #shoegate
FLOTUS was wearing black patent reptile leather high heels by (supposedly) Manolo Blahnik. Nothing wrong with that, she always wears them, we hear you say. Well everything is wrong with that very poor desicion because she and her husband were visiting Corpus Christi in Texas, nearby the catastrophic situation caused by hurricane Harvey.

The pumps caused a frenzy on the internet, in fact her entire outfit became a thing of importance. The fact that she changed into another outfit in the plane didn’t came unnoticed either. You would think it is a futile thing to talk about her shoes during this disaster but it’s not. It is safe to assume that her clothes are picked out meticulously by a team of stylists, after all Melania Trump communicates more through appearance rather than speech. For a trip to a disaster area ‘they’ chose to communicate being cute before being concerned (or anything else, like being helpful for instance.) Ms Trump’s look was so out there, that it stole the news from the devastation hurricane Harvey left behind. Continue reading →
What do Kate Moss, Tupac Shakur, and President Erdogan have in common? Yes! You guessed right: they have been holograms. Alexander Mcqueen turned Kate Moss into one at his fashion show for the winter 2006 season. In 2012 Tupac Shakur was projected (after his death) to perform with Snoop and Dr. Dre at Coachella. And, the least romantic use for this technique: the president of Turkey’s hologram gave a speech at a rally which he could’t visit in the flesh. What’s n.e.x.t.? Will we be hologramming eachother instead of texting? Probably!

There are loads more of examples like the ones above: but we chose these three because they illustrate perfectly how 3D projection has evolved from something conceptual (in this case high-end fashion) to plain main-stream use so rapidly.
Hologram is ofcourse an oldfashioned term nowadays its just a 3D projection.
“A hologram is a photographic recording of a light field, rather than of an image formed by a lens, and it is used to display a fully three-dimensional image of the holographed subject. In its pure form, holography requires the use of laser light for illuminating the subject and for viewing the finished hologram.” (for you nerds out there read more at wikipedia)
Lord Buckethead is an Intergalactic space lord and the British candidate for the Gremloids party. Earlier he stood in two UK General Elections against two different Conservative Party leaders and Prime Ministers. Last week, June, 8, 2017, the citizens of the United Kingdom could vote for Lord Buckethead once again at the general elections; some of them did, he got 249 votes.
Prime Minister Theresa May’s conservative party has lost its parliamentary majority in this election (conservatives got 42% of the votes/labour 40%.) Ms May can and will stay on. Read more about that in your general news bulletin. We, at Mimi Berlin, have to draw lines when it comes to writing on politics! Continue reading →
We at Mimi Berlin don’t do politics, but this hearing*….we just had to watch the livestream provided by the Washington Post on YouTube (Thank You) And we just had to make this short clip. Watch senator Dianne Feinstein and senator Marco Rubio of the Senate Intelligence Committee thanking Mr James Comey and the chairman
*June 2017/Former FBI Director James Comey came to testify before Congress in an open session regarding President Donald Trump’s alleged attempts to stop an investigation into White House officials and potential collusion with Russia.
Okay, so we really needed to clean up Mimi Berlin’s HQ the other day. Being completely honest with you; that’s a dreadful task for us. We don’t like it, never have, never will, but we had to. By the time we were almost done, there was more than light at the end of our clean tunnel! As we opened up a a fresh new pack of trash bags by Brabantia there is was; surprise and laughter when we noticed the text ‘Ich Bin Ein Binliner’ printed on them! Just what we needed: some good old plain fun after a hard day of cleaning! Danke Schön Studio Aandacht for giving us domestic household pleasure!
