La Dame Aux Camélias

La Dame Aux Camélias

La Dame Aux Camélias by the Paris Opera Ballet

Based on the Alexandre Dumas novel that also inspired the stories of Verdis La Traviata and Hollywoods Moulin Rouge, Choreographer John Neumeier creates a riveting dance drama around the famous woman of lore, La Dame aux camélias. The passionate tale of Marguerite Gautier and Armand Duval unfolds ingeniously through a drama-within-a-drama as they meet at the theatre during a performance of Manon Lescaut. So begin their romantic adventures in Paris, brought to life by Neumeiers intense and refined choreographic language. Chopins ravishing music highlights this exceptional neo-classical ballet, featuring the star dancers of the Paris Opéra Ballet. This lavish production, filmed live at the Palais Garnier in High Definition and full surround sound, is all about love, passion, danger and glorious dancing from one of the best ballet companies in the world. Menswear Spring 2015: Romance

Menswear Spring 2015: Romance

Romance Down to Earth Style:
Patchworked, bleached, printed or otherwise embellished denim.
Think: Nostalgic Americana,  Little house on the prairie and The Waltons
Color; blue
Silhouette; baggy

Junya Watanabe showed nothing but (embellished) denim with a worn down, patched up feel to the outfits. At Louis Vuitton there was a little denim segment (the odd one out at the show, but still…)

Romance Dramatic Style:
Embellishment galore from brocade to tule.
Think: Dance, in a broad way; from ballet to bull fighting
Color: Neutrals and greens
Silhouette; most important, cropped tops

Dolce and Gabanna showed a clear theme: The Toreador. Cropped (toreador) jackets were also present at Walter van Beirendonck and Balmain. Dries van Noten’s collection was inspired by Nureyev, adding embellished accents to the shoulders in the shape of  “holsters” and epaulettes in (embellished) brocade  (images via style.com)
