Must-see of the Month, according to Rüpert.

I came across this wonderful and highly fascinating short interview with style director Adrian Clarke. He discusses the Maison Martin Margiela S/S 93 collection.
SHOWstudio asked a range of editors tot tell them about their top punk moment on the catwalk, in order to celebrate and unpick punk’s lasting influence on fashion.
I don’t want to spoil your fun, so I won’t tell you anything. Go ahead and listen, it just a wonderful story.

Kisses all around, Rüpert.

Rüpert von Rom: The London Police

Rüpert von Rom: The London Police

The London Police is Rüpert von Rom’s must-see of the month.

After a short period of flipping burgers Bob Gibson fortunately returned to the London Police to make back-to-basic black and white work. The architectural and illustrative landscapes of Bob Gibson are filled with LADS characters drawn by Chaz. Chaz and Bob started drawing on the streets back in 1998. Their signature character is a little smiley-face guy called a Lad.

Ein schöne Ausstellung is on display at the Look for Art Gallery in Amsterdam. Have a look and buy away.

Kisses all around, Rupert.

Rüpert’s must-see of the month: MoBA 13

Moba 13 arnhemThe fifth edition of MoBA started last weekend. MoBA stands for Mode Biënnale Arnhem. It is the biggest cultural fashion event in the world, which takes place in Arnhem. This edition Lidewij Edelkoort, world famous trend forecaster, debuts as head curator and I have to say she did a marvelous job. Despite all shallow financial resources and troubles in the board, she managed to put out a exhibition that is worth going to. A Must see!

Rupert von Rom Buttoned-Up

Once every couple of years there’s a book that’s so smart in concept it’s an instant success. Buttoned-Up tells the story of London style through the history of the button-down shirt – part of a series of twelve books tied to the twelve lines of the London Underground, as Tfl celebrates 150 years of the Tube with Penguin
Buttoned-up
Gert Jonkers and Jop van Bennekom are the creators of Fantastic Man, a singular modern men’s style journal. Here they chart the history of the button-up shirt and explore why it’s so central to contemporary London’s fashion, design and people. With star contributors, fashion shoots and singular writing, this is a fashion magazine in a book.
A must see/read!
