Assembly-Line 01 Revival of a Classic Shoe

Revival of a Classic

Assembly-Line is a collaboration project that generates small, locally manufactured products. ASSEMBLY-LINE / 01 is the first product from this series: a re-make of a classic wooden slipper from the sixties. Made with EU locally sourced materials and assembled in the Netherlands. In a nutshell: Limited editions, timeless designs, slow design, European product.

About ASSEMBLY-LINE / 01

The first project of Assembly-Line is a revival of a classic: a wooden soled sandal from the sixties. Once extremely popular but now somewhat invisible in the wider shoe landscape, this sandal was waiting for an update and a repositioning in the here and now. The new sandal is produced locally in limited editions, and in collaboration with small workshops, using EU sourced materials. The packaging is low-impact, and the leather straps are re-placeable. The slippers can be ordered at assembly-line.nl. Continue reading

Take Off Your Shoes

Take off Your Shoes

Image editing by Mimi Berlin. Do take off your shoes and leave them in the hallway after a walk with the dog, after you did your walk backwards or when you’re done walking a fine line. Indulge in some luxurious barefoot-time at home, why don’t you?!

Balenciaga’s Spring-Summer Collection for 2018

Balenciaga’s Spring-Summer Collection for 2018

About a month ago it was fashion-week in some parts of the world. Fresh women’s wear collections for Spring/Summer 2018 were presented once again. Balenciaga showed in Paris. Below the most demure looks of the pret-a-porter show. One of our favorites because these outfits really seem to be an instant a holiday-trip to us!
Greetings from Amsterdam,
xoxo Mimi

Worth mentionable is the fact that Balenciaga asked the Crocs brand if they could produce a platform shoe. They could. Result: the ‘Foam’ shoes, lightweight-odor-free-water-resistant-fully-molded-platform-Crocs in Croslite™ material.

According to Highsnobiety blog the Balenciaga Triple S sneaker was the most spotted sneaker on the feet of the audience. (See that street-style sneaker report here at highsnobiety.com it’s fun!) We wonder if the Foam platforms will be equally popular, what do you think?
