Theo Jansen Strandbeelden Drawings

Theo Jansen Strandbeelden Drawings

We attended the opening (27-02-2016) at Heden in The Hague, of the Strandbeelden Drawings by Theo Jansen. Yes drawings! Many of them; the next step of the evolution of Theo Jansen’s inventions, made in plain pencil are on show. In the cellar of Heden you can visit the ‘fossils’ of passed away Strandbeesten.

Animaris Proboscis (Slurf), an actual invention, is situated in the middle of the gallery. Theo Jansen told us these animals are his life-work, he helps them with their evolution. Maybe they will be, one day, “finished” But that’s when Jansen won’t anymore alive he said. (Mr Jansen used much more eloquent words of course)

If you have never seen a Strandbeest in real life, or Jansen’s drawings for that matter, you should certainly visit the Heden Gallery in The Hague, it’s quite an experience stepping into his world!
