Who is Theresa Roemer? She is a rich woman ” I just came back from the Cayman Islands”, from Texas in the USA. She has a YouTube channel for which she follows all the Youtuber rules neatly.
All her uploads have one template. First you get a little intro in which she always addresses us viewers as “Hey Peeps”. Next you see her pre-filmed intro; she promisses us Luxury, Lifestyle, and an other thing which we, at Mimi Berlin, can’t remember.
Her movies are about her life, for example like the video above; Beauty taken too far? or we get an in-house tour (glam-room and closet). And she also just comes up with things to do, such as shopping at… “You guys, I’ve never been to the one dollar store”.
Collaborations and Subscribing
The third thing Theresa Roemer films (actually not herself, but her younger friend, who follows her around) are collaborations with other, equally famous Youtubers. At the end of each movie she always urges us to subsribe and so on, like any youtubers would, so no surprises there either.
Long Story Short
The video’s on Roemer”s channel are about nothing (special). Theresa Roemer doesn’t show her ‘real’ self and being a ‘youtuber’ obviously isn’t really her passion. It is something that she does, like many others who aren’t the earliest of adaptors. Whilst watching her plugging several products and buying lot’s of random stuff, the Fake-ness becomes more Fascinating to us. Without any judgement we ask ourselves: is this what our (pop)culture came to be? Or is it the fact that the lack of creativity is so out in the open; 3 times a week for about 4 years already?! Well, the questions that pop up in our minds while watching this channel are the reason why we made this is the Weird YouTube Channel of the week. Maybe you have some answers for us? You are more than welcome to start a conversation! xoxo Mimi
The US presidential inauguration of Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1953 when Eisenhower’s wife Mamie Eisenhower wore a pink dress as her inaugural gown is thought to have been a key turning point to the association of pink as a color associated with girls. Mamie’s strong liking of pink led to the public association with pink being a color that “ladylike women wear.” The 1957 American musical Funny Face also played a role in cementing the color’s association with women.

Our Day is a good day when it becomes apparent to the world how important ‘fashion’ is. So yesterday we actually had a good one; thanks to the choice of footwear by the first lady of the USA. #shoegate
FLOTUS was wearing black patent reptile leather high heels by (supposedly) Manolo Blahnik. Nothing wrong with that, she always wears them, we hear you say. Well everything is wrong with that very poor desicion because she and her husband were visiting Corpus Christi in Texas, nearby the catastrophic situation caused by hurricane Harvey.

The pumps caused a frenzy on the internet, in fact her entire outfit became a thing of importance. The fact that she changed into another outfit in the plane didn’t came unnoticed either. You would think it is a futile thing to talk about her shoes during this disaster but it’s not. It is safe to assume that her clothes are picked out meticulously by a team of stylists, after all Melania Trump communicates more through appearance rather than speech. For a trip to a disaster area ‘they’ chose to communicate being cute before being concerned (or anything else, like being helpful for instance.) Ms Trump’s look was so out there, that it stole the news from the devastation hurricane Harvey left behind. Continue reading →
Before Christianity hit, what is nowadays, the USA the Native Americans used to know more than two genders, they came up with about five. We feel that is such a great concept; it seems like less fuss to have more genders than only two, more accurate and even more sophisticated. All these ancient genders can be compared to todays LBGTQ (but they are a) Community and, as we all know, are not seen as actual genders like the Two Spirited persons.

We’wha (1849–1896) was a Zuni Native American from New Mexico. She was the most famous lhamana, a traditional Zuni gender role, now described as mixed-gender or Two-Spirit. Read the story of We’whahere on Wikipedia
“Two Spirits refers to a person who has both a masculine and a feminine spirit, and is used by some First Nations people to describe their sexual, gender and/or spiritual identity. As an umbrella term it may encompass same-sex attraction and a wide variety of gender variance, including people who might be described in Western culture as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transsexual, transgender, gender queer, cross-dressers or who have multiple gender identities.” (read more lgbtqhealth.ca) Continue reading →
