This year, at Spazio Rossana Orlandi, more space than usual was reserved for Nika Zupanc, we are fans of Ms Zupanc! (<click to read our post) Also a nice surprise was the debut collection of Scarlet Splendour, furniture and lighting designed by Matteo Cibic; luxury galore in black, white and gold, in a way it matches the work of Nika Zupanc. Having that said: The choices for designs on exhibit at Spazio Rossana Orlandi were a bit too eclectic for us, you all know us at Mimi Berlin, we like to categorize things! Par exemple/For instance; Damiano Spelta’s work, which is fun but a bit overwhelming, was scattered throughout the building. An over-sized-ladies-purse-as-couch in pink placed aside, let’s say, the work of Piet Hein Eek, is too much of a miss-match for us to concentrate on anything. And why was a vintage prototype of a 7.5 meters long Torpedo placed in the room next to the quirky dinnerware by Astier de Villatte? Well, guess we should see Spazio Rossana Orlandi as a department store which caters to all kinds of customers and carries all kinds of designers; from experimental starters to commercial giants. We’ll just have to have fun with that……the next time we visit.

Marmo Fluido recipes in natural resin at Spazio Rossana Orlandi, is a project by Pietrasanta Industries and Carmine Deganello. They are a new series of products made by Massimiliano Adami, Carmine Deganello, Pepe Heykoop, Roel Huisman, Sjoerd Jonkers, Jorrit Taekema, Jeroen Wand, Sander Wassink and Jólan van der Wiel. Marmo Fluido is first heated and then poured, this natural resin is as strong as marble and simultaneously as fluid as water. Its flexible nature allows for a variety of moulding materials and options. All participants made the most of this exciting freedom: they chose leather, wood, cardboard, and even ice to give manifold shapes to this material.
