Fuorisalone 2015: Atelier Clerici

Fuorisalone 2015: Atelier Clerici

Atelier Clerici is an independent event and exhibition project at the centre of the Fuorisalone 2015. Situated in one of Milan’s most distinguished palazzi, Palazzo Clerici, it will bring together designers, companies and institutions experimenting with new forms of living and making. In 2015, the historic Palazzo Clerici will be transformed, for the second time, into a point of intense activity, speculation and discussion around future conditions of living. A diverse array of installations, micro-exhibitions and events organised by some of Europe’s most renowned designers and institutions will animate the palazzo each day for the duration of the Salone. Fuorisalone 2015: Spazio Rossana Orlandi

Fuorisalone 2015: Spazio Rossana Orlandi

This year, at Spazio Rossana Orlandi, more space than usual was reserved for Nika Zupanc, we are fans of Ms Zupanc! (<click to read our post) Also a nice surprise was the debut collection of Scarlet Splendour, furniture and lighting designed by Matteo Cibic; luxury galore in black, white and gold, in a way it matches the work of Nika Zupanc. Having that said: The choices for designs on exhibit at Spazio Rossana Orlandi were a bit too eclectic for us, you all know us at Mimi Berlin, we like to categorize things! Par exemple/For instance; Damiano Spelta’s work, which is fun but a bit overwhelming, was scattered throughout the building. An over-sized-ladies-purse-as-couch in pink placed aside, let’s say, the work of Piet Hein Eek, is too much of a miss-match for us to concentrate on anything. And why was a vintage prototype of a 7.5 meters long Torpedo placed in the room next to the quirky dinnerware by Astier de Villatte? Well, guess we should see Spazio Rossana Orlandi as a department store which caters to all kinds of customers and carries all kinds of designers; from experimental starters to commercial giants. We’ll just have to have fun with that……the next time we visit.

Marmo Fluido recipes in natural resin at Spazio Rossana Orlandi, is a project by Pietrasanta Industries and Carmine Deganello. They are a new series of products made  by Massimiliano Adami, Carmine Deganello, Pepe Heykoop, Roel Huisman, Sjoerd Jonkers, Jorrit Taekema, Jeroen Wand, Sander Wassink and Jólan van der Wiel. Marmo Fluido is first heated and then poured, this natural resin is as strong as marble and simultaneously as fluid as water. Its flexible nature allows for a variety of moulding materials and options. All participants made the most of this exciting freedom: they chose leather, wood, cardboard, and even ice to give manifold shapes to this material.

Fuorisalone 2015: Window Shopping at the Via Monte Napoleone and Via Della Spiga

We strolled the upscale shopping streets of Milan; the Via Monte Napoleone and the Via Della Spiga and took some pictures to share this experience with y’all…..Mimi Blogger Team also went inside for high-end drinks and nibbles at Pucci for Kartell and at the Alexander McQueen Flagship store at the via Verri to see designs by Studio Wieki Somers and Kvadrat incorporated instore.

Fuorisalone 2015: Kitchens designed by Paola Navone

Fuorisalone 2015: Kitchens designed by Paola Navone

During Milano Designweek we attended the Pizza Party, hosted by NLXL, at Paola Navone’s home above her studio in the Tortona Area. We were amazed by the decoration, so much to see in her house and especially in her kitchen; A large space with a full lenght wall filled with metal pots and pans, stacks of recipe books and many cupboards with collected glassware. Ms Navone also created a kitchen for the temporary exhibit of Ikea at the Via Vigevano. For this special exhibit, Ikea asked several designers to reinterpret their new kitchen collection. Paola Navone did a great job creating the similar atmosphere, with mostly products by Ikea, as in her own home. Top notch interior styling!
