IJmagazine is a printed ‘glossy’ magazine about Amsterdam-Noord, well, it’s actually printed on beautiful matte paper. By ‘glossy’ we mean that the content is very high-end in means of lay-out, photography and stories. Inside this second issue you will find a photo-series by Mimi Berlin and JW Kaldenbach. We made an alternative shopping-editorial on things ‘made’ and ‘collected’ in Amsterdam-Noord.

Furthermore the magazine shows hot-spots, interior styling, architectural pieces in Noord, and most important: newly build homes, as in buildings for sale in the Northern part of Amsterdam, across from the city-center near the IJ waterfront.

Mimi Blogger Team went to visit the preview of ‘ThisArtFair’ at the Beurs van Berlage in the citycenter of Amsterdam.

Without a gallery

‘ThisArtFair’ is an annual art fair held at the end of December. Special thing about this fair is the fact that it’s set up for artists to exhibit without a gallery. There are some gallery booths present, so the concept isn’t that strict. Come to think of it, nothing seems ‘strict’ at this fair; which is fun.

Both Penhaligon’s and Imaginary Authors are brands that are new to us, the fun and quirky packaging was a joy to work with, they suit our style. The fashion design students at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam got to show their talent during the ‘Fashion Show 2018’ featuring the collections of this year’s fashion graduates, 12 of them, and a selection of work by the first- and second-year fashion students.The show was held at the NSDM terrein in Amsterdam-Noord. We, Mimi Berlin Bloggerteam, (in particular Herr Kaldenbach) took (backstage) photo’s for y’all who could’t be there.

Many moons ago we created a collection of eggcups: ‘Eierbecher/Eggcups Prototypes’
This project was the start of what would evolve into us, at Mimi Berlin, seriously creating all kinds of unique objects and stattuettes with stories attached to them. (see those at mimimall.me) Anyways, back to the topic of this blogpost.Mrs Jack, a small company which offers sustainable, ready-set trays and tablescapes, has used one of these ‘Eierbecher/Egggcups Prototypes’ for a breakfast in bed tray-scape. Its the ‘Qualy’ eggcup from the ‘White’ series, set next to a marvelous coffeepot designed by Lutz Rabold, what an honour!
