Exhibition Salon 2022|2023 30+ artists Opening at What art Can Do Gallery in Amsterdam

Together with 30+ artists we, at Mimi Berlin, have work (2 statuettes from the Powderbox Girls series) on show at The Salon 22/23 in gallery/project space What Art Can Do in Amsterdam. We went to the opening and took some pictures for yous who couldn’t be there. Your Welcome! As you can see in the photo’s; the place was so packed and humid that we ended up with not one good picture of the actual work. But, and as we, at Mimi Belin, always state.
If you want to see the art on show it’s best to visit and see it for yourself. We suggest that you do so because, in our opinion this exhibition is special; it shows the most diversity we’ve ever seen in a small space and that is super-fun! Thanks to Simone Swildens who invited us to join. xoxo Mimi Berlin

The Salon 22/23 runs to January 28, the gallery is open on thursday, friday and saturday from 13:00-18:00. The address is: Tweede Tuindwarsstraat 4 1015 RZ Amsterdam

The Hague Heritage

We went to the vernissage of the exhibition ‘The Hague Heritage‘ at the Heden gallery. This show is a hommage to artists who have a link to The Hague. Heden invited 30 artists who are either born, live, work or study(ied) in this city by the sea. These artists each chose their favorite work. The Hague Heritage is running to 07 juli 2019

ThisArtFair 2018 Amsterdam

ThisArtFair

Mimi Blogger Team went to visit the preview of ‘ThisArtFair’ at the Beurs van Berlage in the citycenter of Amsterdam.

Without a gallery

‘ThisArtFair’ is an annual art fair held at the end of December. Special thing about this fair is the fact that it’s set up for artists to exhibit without a gallery. There are some gallery booths present, so the concept isn’t that strict. Come to think of it, nothing seems ‘strict’ at this fair; which is fun.

Dinnerplates by Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant

Dinnerplates by Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant

Look at these wonderful dinnerplates! They were handmade by Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant, members of the English Bloomsbury Group. In 1932 they created “The Famous Women Dinner Service”,  a series of fifty dinnerplates, painted with portraits of famous an fabulous women: 12 dancers and actresses, 12 writers, 12 beauties, and 12 queens. Below the image of the late Greta Garbo.

Art historian and director of the National Gallery Kenneth Clark and his wife Jane commisioned this applied art project. The fifty fabulous plates are on show at the Piano Nobile gallery in London through 28 April, 2018. Continue reading

Children at Places for Grown Ups

And in specific children at The Art Gallery during an opening, not acting like grown ups: gotta love it! Mimi Berlin thinks these private moments are always a joy to the eye.

These pictures are a small selection of Mimi Berlin’s Party-Snaps Series: here’s How They Do It at Gallerie Ramakers in The Hague, at het Nieuwe Instituut in Rotterdam, at Stigter van Doesburg and Baars Projects, Amsterdam and at Ventura Lambrate in Milan.

Carpet interiors by Farid Rasulov

Carpet interiors by Farid Rasulov

The Carpet interiors by Farid Rasulov are installations and digital prints of entirely upholstered rooms in which he stages animals in white. We, at Mimi Berlin, think they are wonderful. We would transform our house into Rasulov’s Carpet Interiors but we dont own a vacuum cleaner: so that’s a no go, period. Farid “Rasulov is active across a wide range of artistic media – large scale paintings, installations, 3D graphics, animation and sculpture.” (read more faridrasulov.com)
