Since Jef Montes graduated in 2012 (at ArtEZ Arnhem) Mimi Berlin became interested in his work, so we have been following him. Montes presented an “Experience” at Amsterdam Fashion Week July 6th, 2016, which we unforntunately were unable to attend. That is really a shame because last season (read that here) we imagined Jef Montes doing just what he did: give a performance, experimenting on his fabrics and working on his creations, live with an audience.
We can’t write about his “Tormenta Experience” ’cause we weren’t there but we think it’s a very gutsy move!
Since this “experience” was also a preview on his next collection: Tormenta, we only can wait for that show. In the meantime we have to leave y’all with the images above, made by Team Peter Stigter, and a link to the site of Jef Montes.
On day two (1/15/2016) of MercedezBenzFashionWeekAmsterdam Mimi Berlin Blogger Team went to see the presentation of the newest collection by, the talented young designer, Jef Montes named “Resolver”. Montes’ work, a dress from his previous collection “Velero”, can be seen allover Amsterdam Fashion Week, it features the MBFWA posters, banners etc. (see the making of this image here on this blog)
Now that’s a good idea! Opening Mercedez Benz Fashion Week Amsterdam with a “Dutch Heritage” program. We are especially interested in the last show of the opening evening named Couture & Crafts; an overview show with (vintage) fashion by Dutch couturiers and designers dating from 1960 to 2016. As you all know we adore vintage Dutch fashion heritage, we even based a couple of our Mimi Berlin’s Fashion-Fests on Dutch designers such as Fong Leng and Dick Holthaus using vintage outfits from the kabinet-vintage-depot collection. We hope tickets are still available!
