Museumvisits Photographed by Mimi Berlin’s Blogger Team

Mimi Blogger Team visits exhibitions all the time. We often take Partysnaps but we also like to like to incorporate the art itself in our photo’s. Over the years we gathered a large collection of people watching the art on show. The moments we capture are special or absurd or just plain pretty. We also like to take these photo’s when we’re bored or when the younger audience is bored. Also if it’s too crowded to really have a look at the paintings (or other form of art) on show, which is often the case on opening nights.

From left to right:

  • Visitors at the Romantisicm in the North exhibition at the Groninger museum
  • At the opening of in the Gemeente museum, The Hague. Couple is reminescing their past friend who’s work is on show.
  • A woman taking a photo of the wall at Fondazione Prada, Milan
  • Mimi Blogger Team in line at the opening night of Jump into the Future at the Stedelijk museum, Amsterdam
  • At the opening of 25 years of Gem Kingdom: Dutch jewelry designers, at the Coda museum in Apeldoorn.
  • At the opening of Elise Tak‘s exhibition; The Baby Dailies. Where we met André Smits for the first time. For his ongoing work, a ‘Never ending art trip’:  Artist in the world, Smits photographes (mostly) artists facing their work. The shot above was his setting wich we ‘stole’ at the Gemeentemuseum Helmond
  • A visitor reading a large portion of text at the Hacked Store and another visitor browsing through a vintage designer clothes collection at the opening of the ‘Temporary Fashion Museum‘ at Het Nieuwe Instituut, Rotterdam.
  • At the opening of Tim Walker’s Garden of Earthly Delights, at the Noordbrabants museum, Den Bosch
  • At the opening of the Horst P. Horst exhibition at the Photo museum in Rotterdam
  • A visit to watch the ‘world’s greatest‘ at the MoMA in New-York

Opening Show at Amsterdam Fashion Week: Das Leben am Haverkamp

Opening Show at Amsterdam Fashion Week: Das Leben am Haverkamp

Dutch fashion collective Das Leben Am Haverkamp opened the Amsterdam Fashion Week (sponsored by Mercedes-Benz: MBFWA) thursday evening. Das Leben am Haverkamp (The life at Haverkamp*)  debuted in 2015 at Amsterdam Fashionweek during “The Future Generation” program with the fashion performance “Gefelicifashion” (*Read more about that and the designers HERE on this blog)

(the finale XOXOMIMIBERLINMMXVII)

DLAH showed a “Holiday Resort Happening” The basis for this presentation was a question they asked themselves about fashion: what happens to clothes if you take away it’s functionality. The audience wasn’t really included in this questionnaire; we were left to think for ourselves whilst (a lovely cast) of models passed us by in a monotone choreography. The models were holding lifesize illustrations, mostly executed in plastic, of “looks”.

Gerrit Rietveld Academie The Fashion Show 2017

Gerrit Rietveld Academie The Fashion Show 2017

It’s that season of the year again. Fashion design graduates get to showcase their work in the shape of a fashion show. Mimi Blogger Team split up to see Amsterdam’s Gerrit Rietveld Academie show both live, on the spot and via the livestream somewhere else.

Above our images, taken live at the show, which was held outdoors between the concrete pillars of a section of the A10 Amsterdam city ring highway overpass, near the WOW complex in the Bos en Lommer district. Backstage was also an interesting place: the models were covered in plastic bags, to be shielded from rain and nudity we guess. It was an added bonus for us; seeiing the designs amongst non-model-normally-dressed-people. (see more HERE)
Below the MB Livestream Edit (original livestreaming was done by eventproducent.com)

Chanel Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2016

Wow, again a great fashion spectacle by the House of Chanel; they created every girl’s dream, a lifesize dollhouse! Build in the Grand Palais in Paris with a green lawn and a blue sky……We also really loved the retro hairdo’s created by Sam McKnight.
Make sure to watch the instagram video of the finale at @vogueparis

MBFWA Opening Night; Dutch Heritage.

MBFWA Opening Night; Dutch Heritage.

Now that’s a good idea! Opening Mercedez Benz Fashion Week Amsterdam with a “Dutch Heritage” program. We are especially interested in the last show of the opening evening named Couture & Crafts; an overview show with (vintage) fashion by Dutch couturiers and designers dating from 1960 to 2016. As you all know we adore vintage Dutch fashion heritage, we even based a couple of our Mimi Berlin’s Fashion-Fests on Dutch designers such as Fong Leng and Dick Holthaus using vintage outfits from the kabinet-vintage-depot collection. We hope tickets are still available!
