Oeufs / Eggs Marcel Broodthaers

Oeufs / Eggs

Belgian artist, poet and filmmaker Marcel Broodthaers (1924-76) loved Oeufs and Eggs, he used many of them as a subject for his paintings and installations in the 1960s.

We made a little collection out of some of his works containing Oeufs/eggs. These works, in white, are part of collections of various museum’s of modern art from allover the world. (see below)

“All is eggs. The world is an egg. The world is born of the great yolk, the sun.”
-– Marcel Broodthaers,1966.

The image above is part of the ‘Broodthaerscabinet’: a space that museum S.M.A.K. in Brussels has created for the presentation of the works by Broodthaers from the museum’s collection. The cabinet will be opened through 02.09.18.

Moules/ Mussels

Marcel Broodthaers was also intrigued by Moules/Mussels besides eggs. If you’re interested read all all about that here Marcel-Broodthaers

Museumvisits Photographed by Mimi Berlin’s Blogger Team

Mimi Blogger Team visits exhibitions all the time. We often take Partysnaps but we also like to like to incorporate the art itself in our photo’s. Over the years we gathered a large collection of people watching the art on show. The moments we capture are special or absurd or just plain pretty. We also like to take these photo’s when we’re bored or when the younger audience is bored. Also if it’s too crowded to really have a look at the paintings (or other form of art) on show, which is often the case on opening nights.

From left to right:

  • Visitors at the Romantisicm in the North exhibition at the Groninger museum
  • At the opening of in the Gemeente museum, The Hague. Couple is reminescing their past friend who’s work is on show.
  • A woman taking a photo of the wall at Fondazione Prada, Milan
  • Mimi Blogger Team in line at the opening night of Jump into the Future at the Stedelijk museum, Amsterdam
  • At the opening of 25 years of Gem Kingdom: Dutch jewelry designers, at the Coda museum in Apeldoorn.
  • At the opening of Elise Tak‘s exhibition; The Baby Dailies. Where we met André Smits for the first time. For his ongoing work, a ‘Never ending art trip’:  Artist in the world, Smits photographes (mostly) artists facing their work. The shot above was his setting wich we ‘stole’ at the Gemeentemuseum Helmond
  • A visitor reading a large portion of text at the Hacked Store and another visitor browsing through a vintage designer clothes collection at the opening of the ‘Temporary Fashion Museum‘ at Het Nieuwe Instituut, Rotterdam.

Buidings as Fashion Show Venues

Buidings as Fashion Show Venues

Menswear shows in Paris: Rick Owens and Kenzo chose a similar kind of venue: Trend Alert! Buildings as a fashion show backdrop (a summer trend; it needs to be outside). This post is obviously not going to be a Mimi Runway report: we can’t see the actual clothes. But, what a spectacle it’s like the circus…..

Less than a month ago, on January 9, Dutch artist Daan van Golden passed away. In Van Golden’s memory museum Boijmans van Beuningen (in Rotterdam) staged a temporary presentation for his family and friends to bid the artist a worthy farewell. A small selection of his impressive oeuvre can be seen in the Serra Gallery till February 19, 2017. (Read more at www.boijmans.nl)

This weekend on Saturday February 4, the day on which Daan van Golden would have celebrated his 81st birthday, the family was at the presentation. Mimi Berlin Blogger Team went to offer condolences in person. And Yes we took snaps. Snaps?! you ask of us. Yes we did, sometimes one doesn’t know what do in a situation because of the sadness or just beacause you are stunned, and then you just take snaps…..At least we, at Mimi Berlin do. (We have been taken snaps at even more sad occassions than this one, which we never will post because they are too private or awkward, but we feel we can post these series; in memory of Mr van Golden.) Goodbye Daan van Golden.
Thank you Mr & Mrs. J.
