We, Mimi Blogger Team, visited the Tim Walker exhibition ‘Wonderful Things’ at the V&A museum in London the other day (the exhibition ran from 21 September 2019 to 22 March 2020). We are fans of the photographer Tim Walker, so we simply had to come to London all the way from Amsterdam.
As always, we took pictures for you, who couldn’t be there.

Glossy

The first room, at the start of the exhibition, is filled with work made for fashion magazines. Hence the dripping ‘gloss’ from the ceiling we guess.

Hello World at the Hamburger Bahnhof Museum in Berlin

Hello World

Mimi Berlin Blogger Team went to visit the Hamburger Bahnhof, Museum für Gegenwart, that’s the museum of Modern Art in Berlin, the other day. The exhibiton “Hello World, Revising a Collection” works from the museum’s collection (and some on loan) were on show. What a wonderful show!

Educational

The way the exhibition was layed out was very new and interesting to us; paintings  were accompanied by groups of imagery, or narratives, ‘explaining’ the art. Both a joy to look at and very educational as well. Most of the times ‘educational’ isn’t a nice word for an art exhibiton, but in this case it is. Nothing childish about the narratives here: without using any text, they allowed the visitor to get associative information in a visual way.

The Passage at the Hamburger Bahnhof Museum

Am Hamburger Bahnhof

Hamburger Bahnhof is the museum for modern art in Berlin, Germany. The museum quarters were expanded to accommodate the Friedrich Christian Flick Collection, presented to the museum in 2004 as a long-term loan.

Passage

The former dispatch warehouses located behind the main building were renovated by the architectural firm Kuehn Malvezzi and connected to the historical building via a passage. This hallway replicates a metro with it’a fresh green tiles and original trainstation text.(as seen above) The new ‘Rieckhallen’ increased the exhibition space in a huge way. (read more smb.museum)

Vorm-Fellows-Attitude

Dear Diary,

Yesterday we went to Museum Boijmans in Rotterdam to see the exhibition Vorm-Fellows-Attitude by Gelitin (a group of four artists from Vienna, Austria. The group was formerly known as Gelatin and changed their name in 2005.) which was opened last weekend. We, at Mimi Berlin, had a really good time! First we got to pick out an outfit from the rack filled with abstract nude suits. You can imagine that we were already thrilled! The garments were actually quite nice, design-wise. All suited up we made some selfies, everybody did, and went into the main room. The large space is filled with 4 or so, giant turds (a lump of excrement) laid on Persian carpets. So, imagine people walking in these suits in between under and behind those brown sculptures (which were quite realistic, material-wise). We could not stop laughing, honestly, we had SO much fun!

At the end of the day all the suits were sprayed, not sure with what, maybe an odor killer or sanatising product.

Oeufs / Eggs Marcel Broodthaers

Oeufs / Eggs

Belgian artist, poet and filmmaker Marcel Broodthaers (1924-76) loved Oeufs and Eggs, he used many of them as a subject for his paintings and installations in the 1960s.

We made a little collection out of some of his works containing Oeufs/eggs. These works, in white, are part of collections of various museum’s of modern art from allover the world. (see below)

The image above is part of the ‘Broodthaerscabinet’: a space that museum S.M.A.K. in Brussels has created for the presentation of the works by Broodthaers from the museum’s collection. The cabinet will be opened through 02.09.18.

Mimi Blogger Team visits exhibitions all the time. We often take Partysnaps but we also like to like to incorporate the art itself in our photo’s. Over the years we gathered a large collection of people watching the art on show. The moments we capture are special or absurd or just plain pretty. We also like to take these photo’s when we’re bored or when the younger audience is bored. Also if it’s too crowded to really have a look at the paintings (or other form of art) on show, which is often the case on opening nights.
