Yesterday the Kenzo x H&M show was held at Pier 36 in New York (Creative Director: Jean-Paul Goude/Music Director: Sam Spiegel/Choreography: Ryan Heffington) We thought it was a blast! We don’t agree much with the mass produced garments and policy sold by H&M; but we do hope the people in the streets, in 250 cities worldwide, will turn brighter and more pretty with this collection, only if it was for one season…….

From the H&M Press office:

The KENZO x H&M collection will be available in over 250 H&M stores worldwide, as well as online, from November 3.” Continue reading

Headless Girls: Circus Legends on Film

Headless Girls

Mimi Berlin’s Circus legends came to life! Meet the Headless Girls in the photoseries and the short movie ‘Conversations 1 ‘at in the park’ made by Daan/Jansen at Mimi Berlin.

Dutch duo Daan / Jansen collaborated on the photo series ‘Headless Girls’ for Mimi Berlin. They imagined two women who used to work being a circus act in the beginning of the 20th century. These “Headless Girls” meet again after decades, at a park, to have a conversation about the past.

(Models; Beja von Bis and D.Ot, Assistent; Sterre van der Waals. Thanks to The Vintage Snatcher for the Courrèges dress, The women are wearing silk scarves designed by Mimi Berlin.)

The History of Circus Legends

The inspiration source for this collaboration is The History of Circus Legends; a group of surreal circus figurines which are unique readymades made by Mimi Berlin.

Chanel Perfume and Jean Paul Goude

Chanel Perfume and Jean Paul Goude

Yes! Jean Paul Goude made another ad mini-movie for Chanel! After juggling with a perfume bottle of Chance, in 2011, the models now, in 2015, take up bowling, with many bottles of Chance, fun! Our all-time favorite Jean Paul Goude/Chanel collaboration is the one with Vanessa Paradis whistling and spilling Coco perfume, made in 1991. Oh and also the ad for Chanel Egoiste, made in 1990. Gem Kingdom Jewelry at Coda Museum

Gem Kingdom Jewelry at Coda Museum

This year, 2015, Dutch jewelry label Gem Kingdom celebrates it’s 25th anniversary. They do that with a retrospective exhibition at Museum Coda in The Netherlands. Gem Kingdom was founded in 1990 by designers Johanna Titselaar and Bernard Jongstra, their first “ad campaign” featured a poodle wearing a GK necklace. During the opening, (May 31, 2015) of the exhibition they revived this image by entering the museum lobby accompanied by two Standard Poodles. Fiona Hering, fashion editor of Vogue NL, opened the celebration with an entertaining speech. (see party snaps HERE)

Gem Kingdom created a wonderful exhibition, showcasing their jewelry in an art window of 3 meters high and 37 meters long, incorporating objects and images to show “The Gem Kingdom Atmosphere”. Walking from the left past this huge window, which starts with an image collage wall with Baby Statue “Josephine” as centerpiece, you pass by various chapters of Gem Kingdom Design. Like a.o. the first ever collection with a Giant Poodle, made entirely out of moss, created for this exhibit by Andreas Verheijen. The Wall ends at the “Hall of Fame” at the right, showing collaborations with artists, illustrators, photographers, brands (a.o. Céline), and more theatrical designs for musicals and movies. (click images above for more information)

We, at Mimi Berlin, collaborated with the Gem Kingdom as well in the past, our Boudoir Dreamhome/Traumhaus is incorporated in the exhibition, decorated with heart shaped jewelry and serving as backdrop for the Souvenir Baby Statue: “Home is where the Heart is”. We are honoured! (Open: May 31 /  October 25, 2015)
